If A loves B,

And B loves C,

And C loves D.

If B loves E

And E loves F

And F loves G

If C loves H and I

And I loves J and K

And K loves M, N, O and P

And P and A once had a baby with Q

And R and H go to concerts with S

And T and V love E

And W and X like to go to the movies with D

And N and K go shopping for clothes with G

And every one of them is happy with the pinnate family

That they’ve built on love that branches and bends

Like the arching branches of a banyan tree...

Then Y does it matter to U?

Because Z (zie) is feeling left out? ;)

(It both does and doesn't matter... whatever goes on between consenting sentient adults is *up to them*... it matters because sometimes some jerque or idiot thinks they shouldn't and makes a fuss. It also matters, and will matter more, because oftentimes people get into such a thing and screw up by the numbers... and at some point down the road I will be one of the people they turn to to pick up the pieces.)

(FWIW, if you hadn't seen, I'm on a track that leads to UU-affiliated seminary. Been taking care of people in various ways nearly three decades. Time to learn to do it right and make it my day job instead of wrangling these silicon-hearted bastards for enough free time to get out and do my Job...)

Yes... I do find joy in my current occupation, but it doesn't really bring a hell of a lot of joy *to others* on a regular basis. Want to fix that. Working on it.

I'm a 30-year heathern. My wife is culturally/tribally Jewish. We're both musical and activist-ish... The Congregation lets us sing together and get our activism on *together*... this is really kinda awesome.

This, this is good. My family is Jewish. When my sister moved to Mystic, Connecticut, she found that she really didn't like the only synagogue there, because nobody greeted the newcomer, and she joined the UUs instead. This was maybe 20 years ago or more. She nervously told me about it, and I assured her it didn't bother me a bit, that the most important thing was that she was in a group that welcomed her. I've always respected the UUs and the Quakers, not just for their non-dogmaticness and what I feel are reasonable beliefs, but for their non-aggressiveness.

My nephew, her son, joined the Young Religious Unitarian Universalists. I was delighted when he told me the abbreviation for it: YRUU.

*chuckles* both with UUs and Quakers, the non-aggressiveness can only be pushed so far. Sunday's anthem was "We Are A Gentle, Angry People"... we may be love first, but we know how to get uppity when push comes to shove. And for the love of all that's holy, don't piss off the Quakers... they're kinda like Ents. Slow to anger, slow to come to consensus, but once they are decided, follow or get out the way, because leading is no longer an option.

Yes ...

Totally with you on the Quakers. Pacifists are like oldschool wizards, you know? Easy to destroy at low levels, but at higher levels, they mop the table with everyone else. And Quakers are getting advice from God. That alone should put them at the top of everyone's Do Not Fuck With list.

For what it's worth, the local Quakers share our meeting-house. :D

Lit up how? Physically, not noticeably... but it's in a lovely grove of Doug firs and has this *calm* about it...

*chuckles* Lit like a big f'n' DOOBIE, chill and singing '60's protest songs? Yeah, that'd be us.

(Though please to keep the *actual* doobies downwind? Sadly allergic...)

Lit up energy-wise. The Quaker house that I knew in college had a vibe even when nobody was in it. Then when people came in, there was a pull to it, a curve -- like sitting inside a radio dish. The more Quakers, the bigger the dish. They're not kidding about "whenever two or more of you are gathered in my name." The effect multiplies, much the way you can get the effect of a bigger radio antenna by using two smaller ones.

Uhuh. I know both sides of the multiple theory well; da is still to this day a complex radio tech, eight- and twelve-element antennas are his specialty.

And yeah, this place is lit. ;)

:D I love doing science to magic, and vice versa. I figure if God made the trick work with radio, there's no reason it shouldn't work with prayer too.
